Aery Aviation Selected to Support Development and Integration of Advanced Airborne Mission System

NEWPORT NEWS, VA, UNITED STATES, September 14, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Aery Aviation, LLC announced today that it has been selected as the aircraft integration subcontractor to Integrity Defense Solutions, Inc. (IDS) on the U.S. Air Force’s Ground & Remote Integrated Data – Interoperable Real-Time Operations Network (GRID-IRON) prototype effort. IDS’s Obsidian Shield solution was competitively selected to deliver an affordable, scalable interoperability capability across multiple aircraft platforms.

Under the program, Aery will provide aircraft integration, structural and systems engineering, airworthiness support, prototype development, manufacturing, and flight test expertise to transition the Obsidian Shield airborne capability from prototype through operational demonstration.

The effort also includes the design and maturation of a modular external mission system that enables rapid integration of emerging technologies across multiple aircraft platforms. Built around an open architecture approach, the system is intended to provide a flexible foundation for future mission growth while reducing aircraft integration timelines and lifecycle costs. The current development phase includes prototype fabrication, laboratory integration, environmental qualification, flight testing, and preparation for low-rate production.
