SMART Technologies announced SoundFlow™, a new classroom audio accessibility solution that brings clearer, more flexible sound to everyday instruction. Using Auracast™ technology, SoundFlow creates a simple one-to-many audio broadcast from a SMART Board display to students’ compatible hearing aids, earbuds, headphones, personal listening devices or speakers. This gives students clearer, more equitable access to lesson audio from anywhere in the room. Beyond individual student devices, SoundFlow also enables install-free whole-classroom audio through plug-and-play Auracast™ speakers that can be positioned where needed and reconfigured to support a range of learning scenarios.
Small gaps in hearing can lead to larger gaps in learning. Distance from the teacher, background noise and classroom acoustics can make instruction harder to follow especially for students who are Deaf or hard of hearing, neurodivergent learners, multilingual learners or any student who benefits from clearer audio. SoundFlow helps schools improve access to instruction without adding complexity: students can listen through compatible personal devices for a more individualized experience, while plug-and-play Auracast™ speakers can extend clear audio across the classroom without installation or fixed infrastructure. SoundFlow is a plug-and-play solution that connects by USB to compatible SMART Board displays running iQ4, with no wires to run through walls and no complex installation. From the familiar SMART iQ4 interface, teachers can start or stop a broadcast, manage access, password-protect the channel and limit the broadcast range without interrupting the lesson. When paired with SMART SoundLift, SMART’s classroom microphone system, SoundFlow combines the teacher’s voice and lesson audio from a SMART Board display in one clear stream delivered directly to students’ compatible devices.
