Father-Son Duo Brings Community-Centered Card Shop to Eastern North Carolina, in the State Where Replay Was Born
GREENVILLE, N.C., Sept. 2, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Replay Sports Cards (“Replay”), America’s first national franchise dedicated exclusively to the hobby, has signed a new franchise agreement with Jim and Jake Whitehurst to bring a Replay Sports Cards location to Greenville, North Carolina. The shop is targeting to open before the end of the year, introducing Replay’s modern, community-driven card shop experience to the market.
The agreement carries added meaning for the brand, as Replay was founded in North Carolina and established its presence in Charlotte before expanding nationally. The Greenville signing extends Replay’s footprint into the eastern half of its home state and connects the North Carolina card communities.
A Homegrown Brand Expands Across the Carolinas
For the Whitehursts, opening in Greenville is a chance to give collectors across eastern North Carolina a place of their own.
“There isn’t really a central hub out here for collectors to come together, and that’s what we want to build,” said Jake Whitehurst. “Community is the part I’m most excited about. It’s people getting together, helping kids learn about sports, finding their favorite teams and players, and building friendships through the hobby.”
Jake found his way into collecting through his father’s old football cards and began building his own collection in 2021. What started with opening boxes and following Carolina teams grew into a serious pursuit of the hobby and now, a business.
His father, Jim, brings decades of operating experience to the venture. Jim is a second-generation family business owner who leads Coastal AgroBusiness, a 73-year-old company headquartered in Greenville with operations across three states and 15 locations. He began his career in banking before returning home to help run the family business.
“Having a father as a mentor shaped how I think about building something that lasts, and now I get to do that alongside my son,” said Jim Whitehurst. “We know this town, we know these fans, and we believe Greenville is ready for a shop like this.”
Continued Franchise Momentum
Replay Sports Cards continues to expand through franchising, offering entrepreneurs a proven system that modernizes the traditional card shop while preserving the heart of the hobby. The Greenville agreement reflects continued demand for Replay’s model, which blends modern retail systems with a community-driven approach.
“Jim and Jake bring exactly the mix of business experience and genuine passion for the hobby that we look for in Replay franchisees,” said Mike Martin, Co-Founder of Replay Sports Cards. “It’s especially meaningful to grow in North Carolina, where Replay got its start. We’re proud to welcome the Whitehursts to the Replay family and support the launch in Greenville.”
