TOKYO, JAPAN, August 19, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — On May 25, 2026, the Japan Chiropractic Association (“JCA”) signed a memorandum of understanding for a comprehensive friendship and cooperation agreement with the Japan Chiropractic Doctors College ( “JCDC”).
The agreement aims to promote chiropractic care and improve technical standards, and includes exchanges between instructors from both organizations.
Since October of last year, JCA and JCDC have held a series of discussions and worked to deepen their mutual understanding. As a result of the strong leadership and decisive action of JCDC Chairman Hideo Arato, the memorandum of understanding was signed in May of this year.
Through this partnership, JCA, as a leading organization in the industry, will further promote its activities to improve the quality of chiropractic care, increase public understanding of its importance, and raise awareness of chiropractic care throughout Japan.
[About the Japan Chiropractic Doctors College (JCDC)]
The Japan Chiropractic Doctors College was founded in 1996 and is the only specialized chiropractic school in Japan.
Since its establishment, the college has produced numerous Doctors of Chiropractic through its partnership with Life West Chiropractic College in the United States.
Today, JCDC provides education at five locations in Sapporo, Sendai, Mito, Tokyo, and Nagoya, in addition to its main campus in Takadanobaba Tokyo.
Under its relationship with its affiliated school, JCDC offers a comprehensive 18-month curriculum for students seeking to become chiropractors. The program includes practical training, classroom instruction, and internships. The college continues to educate and prepare many chiropractors for professional practice.
Mr. Hideo Arato, the founder and chairman of JCDC, was ranked No. 1 in Japan in the amateur boxing light heavyweight division from 1976 to 1978 and was also selected as an Olympic training athlete.
Through his experience as an athlete, he came to recognize the effectiveness and importance of chiropractic care. This led him to enter politics, and he served as a member of the Tokyo Metropolitan Assembly from 1993 to 1997.
During his term in office, he made significant contributions to the development of the chiropractic profession in Japan, including becoming the first member of the Tokyo Metropolitan Assembly to call on the assembly to support the establishment of chiropractic legislation.
[Future Initiatives]
Based on this partnership, selected JCA instructors are scheduled to participate in a special curriculum taught by JCDC instructors beginning in October of this year.
At the kickoff meeting held at JCA headquarters, representatives of the technical instructors from both organizations discussed the content of the lectures in a friendly and like a at home.
JCA will also pursue initiatives involving cooperation from multiple perspectives in its efforts to build partnerships with medical institutions.
In addition to increasing awareness of chiropractic care among medical institutions in Japan, JCA plans to communicate both domestically and internationally about collaboration between existing medical care and private-sector chiropractic care in Japan, where the development of a legal framework for chiropractic remains behind that of other countries around the world.
Since last year, JCA has also been working to expand and improve its credit system through international partnerships with chiropractic universities in the US, with the aim of meeting the international minimum educational standards established by the WHO UN.
The partnership with JCDC will further accelerate the improvement of JCA’s technical and educational standards.
Through this partnership, JCA has gained a strong partner. Together with JCDC, JCA will contribute to the further development of the chiropractic profession and the enhancement of its social value, while helping to shape the future of chiropractic in Japan.
