SAN DIEGO, Sept. 15, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Debut, the biotech beauty leader, today announced the launch of DermCeutical PNar™, a biotech active engineered to visibly reduce hyperpigmentation and brighten the skin without the irritation commonly associated with the industry’s most widely used, higher-concentration ingredients such as kojic acid.
Developed through Debut’s proprietary platform integrating AI, skin genomics and biotechnology, PNar™ was engineered by identifying the underlying biological drivers of hyperpigmentation and designing an entirely new molecule to target them at the source. The ingredient blocks key enzymes, including tyrosinase, to reduce melanin production before dark spots appear.
Kojic acid has long been the category standard, but recent EU regulatory changes restrict its use to a maximum concentration of 1% in face and hand products, following concerns about its potential endocrine-disrupting properties and dermal absorption. The restriction is part of a broader shift across the beauty industry as regulators increasingly scrutinize higher-concentration active ingredients.

In a 2025 study of 48,000 adults across 34 countries published in the Journal of Investigative Dermatology, 50% of respondents reported at least one pigmentary disorder, including multiple forms of pigmentation, melasma, and sunspots.
