Major platform update delivers a more flexible data model, an improved analyst experience, and greater performance for complex intelligence operations

The Vertex Project, creator of the Synapse central intelligence system, today announced the general availability of Synapse v3, marking the platform’s transition out of beta and the beginning of its next major generation.

Built on more than a decade of experience supporting analytical teams, Synapse v3 introduces significant improvements across the platform’s architecture, data model, engineering, and user interface. The release is designed to better reflect how intelligence analysis happens in the real world: helping analysts represent complex information more accurately, navigate relationships more intuitively, and reach defensible conclusions faster.

Synapse enables organizations to collect, enrich, analyze, operationalize, and report on information within a unified environment. By connecting data, analytical workflows, and institutional knowledge, the platform helps teams conduct collaborative, reproducible analysis at scale.

Key improvements in Synapse v3 include:

• A more flexible and consistent data model that allows organizations to represent a wider range of information while navigating relationships across the graph more intuitively.

• An enhanced Synapse user interface, known as Optic, that improves how analysts view, explore, and interact with data

• Greater transparency around relationships and edges, helping analysts understand why information is connected and where those connections originated.

• Tombstoning capabilities that allow analysts to preview the effects of removing data within a fork before merging the change into an underlying View.

• Expanded interface customization, including multiple new visual themes with light-mode and high-contrast options.

• Architectural and performance improvements designed to increase platform stability, efficiency, and throughput as analytical workloads grow.

• Additional Storm capabilities that give developers and advanced users greater flexibility when creating Power-Ups, automations, and customized analytical workflows.

The general availability release follows an open beta period that began June 30, 2026. During the beta, users were able to evaluate the updated data model, begin porting Power-Ups and automation logic, and prepare their environments for migration.

Synapse v3 includes both open-source Synapse services and their commercial counterparts. Open-source images remain publicly available, while commercial images and capabilities are available to Synapse Enterprise customers.

The Vertex Project is taking a measured approach to customer migrations. Organizations currently using Synapse v2 are not required to migrate by a fixed deadline, and Synapse v2 will continue to receive maintenance support, including bug fixes and critical enhancements. Vertex expects customer migrations to take place gradually over the next one to two years, allowing teams to test internal automations, address custom data-model extensions, and plan transitions according to their operational requirements.
